July 4th, 2011 (Transit)
Well, today is the first day of my trip, and I have to say, I’m not all that excited about the prospect of riding on an airplane for 7 hours and 10 minutes. Going through security and dealing with the TSA was tedious as always, but what can you do. In all honesty, I feel bad for the TSA workers. People get mad at them just for carrying out government policies that they really have no say in. I don’t like the new body scanners that they have at our airport now, though. Icky. My little sister ended up having to get a pat-down, since she was wearing a shirt with sequins or something to that effect on it and the body scanners work by using reflection. I felt so bad for her…

| Gate G-6, baby! |
On a lighter note, guess which gate we were assigned to! …No guesses? Okay, fine, fine. It was gate G-6. Kind of funny, isn’t it? Well, whether or not you thought the gate number was funny; let’s move on, shall we?

| Heading off to Amsterdam, Netherlands! |
Our flight left at 3:15 PM (Central Time), and I just couldn’t fall asleep on the plane. Maybe I nodded off for about ten minutes, but I just ended up waking myself up. I had an aisle seat, and although I admit it wasn’t my brightest idea, I tried to sleep with my knees brought up to my chest, and they ended up going slightly beyond my chair and into the aisle. This unfortunately caused people to bump into my legs as I was trying to rest. Again, I admit that I am partially to blame for this, but… Couldn’t people also watch where they’re going? There was this old lady who actually bumped me about five times throughout the flight, and she made eye-contact with me after running into my legs. She decided that she didn’t need to apologize. Pffft, whatever.
